Lacor Hospital: an African Successful Story 0
In the 1960s, Lucille Teasdale, one of Canada’s first women surgeons, and her Italian doctor-husmand, Piero Corti, began turning a small hospital in Uganda, specifically in Gulu, into one of the best and largest medical centers in Equatorial Africa.
In the following video the golden nubile is celebrated in Gulu.
Fifty years down the road, ever since they took over St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor from Gulu Diocese, the hospital goes on to give hope to the people in the north despite more than 20 years of war.
Today, St. Mary Lacor in Gulu treats 300 000 people a year and trains northen Uganda’s next generation of health professionals.
Its growth has now seen it appoint three directors, headed by the executive director, Dr Cyprian Opira, assisted by the medical director, Dr Hamilton Odong and the institutional director.
