World Cup: FIFA launches the official art poster initiative 0

For the second time in its history, a FIFA World Cup is accompanied by a major official licensed art project. The Official Art Poster Edition of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa comprises works on football by seventeen internationally acclaimed artists with a special relation to the African continent.

2010 art prints have been made of each of the seventeen football artworks. These prints are now available as a strictly Limited Edition of Official Art Posters.

Including famous top-ranking artists such as William Kentridge, Marlene Dumas and Romero Britto, the Official Art Poster Edition 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa is an art collectible as well as a high-profile fan item.

The 2010 Art Edition follows on from the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany Edition which was a huge public success and an international image campaign. The current Official Art Edition for the upcoming World Cup highlights art and artists from Africa. It brings together celebrities of the art world and exciting young talents who have created iconic images of football.

The 2010 series encompasses artworks that are diversified in style and expression, ranging from Kentridge’s „Bicycle Kick“ that appears to be a leap of joy to Isolde Krams’s „Red Elephant“ holding a football in its trunk, and from Peter Eastman’s night view of a stadium building site in South Africa to Hassan Musa’s transfer of the biblical scene of Jacob battling with the archangel into football.

The 2010 Official Art Posters are available as individual prints or as Complete Set in the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa Portfolio.
