ADDIS ABEBA - Strengthening African civil society has been a long held obsession of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), an advisory body of the European Union representing employers, trade unions, farmers, consumers and the other interest groups that collectively make up ‘organised civil society’. The EESC sets the political agenda for talks on relations between Brussels and African, Caribbean and Pacific countries to favour development. A huge challenge.
