Agricultural Keys to Malaria in African Highlands

Kampala (Uganda) – Sixty-five years after a major international summit here on malaria, the mosquito-borne disease remains a scourge and its incidence may even be rising in parts of sub-Saharan Africa due to the combined effects of climate change, agricultural practices and population displacement. Almost half the world’s population is deemed at risk of malaria, and an estimated 214 million people will contract it in 2015, with nearly half a million dying.

Decent Employment Opportunities for Young People in Rural Africa

Kenya, Uganda facing severe food insecurity: FAO report

Kenya and Uganda are on a list of 29 African countries facing severe food insecurity. However, unlike other countries, the food insecurity situation in the two East African counties is localised. In other words, it is restricted to specific areas due to various factors including an influx of refugees, a concentration of internally displaced persons, or a combination of crop failure and acute poverty.
