Afronline: A new editorial project with African independent media

Brussels – Afronline.org, launches a new editorial initiative together with 25 African independent media all over the continent. The goal is to raise public awareness through reports, analysis, opinions, radio and television programmes on peace and security, inter-religious dialogue and migration in Africa. The project is supported by the Directorate General for Globalization and Global Issues (DGMO) of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI).

VITA and ITM Antwerp ride radio waves against Ebola in Guinea

The network of independent radios of Guinea URTELGUI and the Italian media content company VITA will work as of Monday (26 January 2015) with the Antwerp Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) on an Ebola sensibilisation and awareness-raising action across radio stations in Guinea, one of the three worst affected countries by the current Ebola epidemic. The action is funded by the European Union.

Voice of Pende Radio is back on air after two years

Fondation Hirondelle and Fondation Ndeke Luka are pushing ahead with their plan to rehabilitate community radios in the Central African Republic (CAR), despite the difficulties and constraints of the current situation there.This plan is being carried out in partnership with ARC (Community Radio Association) and with funding from the European Union.

One evening while channel surfing at home, I stumbled upon what sounded like a rap cypher* on the radio. Quickly, I got up to look for an empty cassette tape nearby. Once I found one (a see-through Sonotech C-60 if memory serves right), hurriedly inserted it into the tape deck, and pressed the record button.
